We are seeking both junior and senior scholars to participate as Mentors and CV Reviewers at HSS in San Fransisco, November 2015. Duties generally involve a commitment of about one or two hours for a Mentor or a CV Reviewer. Both programs are productive and rewarding ways to encourage and prepare the next generation of scholars. We also encourage graduate students and early career scholars to sign up for the mentorship program and for a CV review during the meeting.
Mentorship Program: For the senior scholar, serving as a Mentor begins with an informal meeting and then the sharing of connections and insight on scholarship directly with an HSS student during the conference. This serves as the beginning of a productive professional relationship and window for the student into the network of scholarship. Potential mentors and mentees can sign up at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1C7_GVM1nPlymR6KFE40uFOXuVuMoY8K3uDnFOwh3FIo/viewform?usp=send_form or email HSSMentorship@gmail.com directly. We recommending signing up by Monday, November 9 to ensure finding a mentor or mentee.
CV Reviews: As a CV Reviewer, the professional brings a much narrower expertise to the HSS student’s CV. In a brief 15-minute session, the reviewer examines the reviewee’s CV and offers pointers based on career and scholarship goals. Serving as a mini-interview, this process not only prepares the student to present themselves, but sharpens that presentation with the eye of experience. If you are prepared to share as little as an hour of your time at HSS San Francisco and meet the future of your field, please contact Thomas Darragh at firstname.lastname@example.org. Graduate students and early career scholars can sign up for the CV Review through this link: https://hssgecc.wordpress.com/hss-annual-meeting-2015-san-francisco/hss-2015-cv-review-sign-ups/.
Women’s Mentorship Tea: The annual women’s mentorship tea will be held on Friday, Nov. 20 from 2:00-3:00 pm. This is an excellent opportunity for female graduate students and early careerists to meet a variety of invited female senior scholars. Graduate students and early career scholars can RSVP directly to email@example.com; space is limited.
