A call for collaboration: Top 100 Scientists

I have begun to plan revision of a book first published in 1996: The Scientific 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Scientists, Past and Present. This book, never out of print and rights to which I’ve recently recovered, is a popular title of collective biography that’s been translated and published in the United States and throughout the world. It’s known for its clarity, accuracy and usefulness in both general and educational contexts. With the 25th anniversary of publication upcoming, a substantial revision is in order.

I am seeking a collaborating author with a view to sharing the task of revision. So also wondering if it’s a project that might interest a member of HSS. In addition, I’ll be soon circulating a proposed revision list of entrants and seeking input from historians and scientists themselves. This was the procedure adopted in 1995, when I was in touch with Keith Benson at HSS, and it seemed to work well. I fully expect some additions and subtractions.
