We would like to invite historians and technologists of all skill levels interested in digital humanities to THATCamp HSS 2014. The Humanities and Technology Camp, is an open, welcoming meeting where participants learn and build together in sessions proposed on the spot.
THATCamp HSS 2014, which is being held in conjunction with the History of Science Society conference this November in Chicago, will meet on November 6th, from 9:00 am to 4:00pm at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago, only about a fifteen-minute walk from the Westin Hotel, the site of the HSS conference.
This will be the first digital humanities camp of its kind at HSS. All are invited, but we have a maximum of 50 attendees, so please sign up early. A donation of $20 is suggested to help cover some of the costs of the event. All are welcome. Membership in HSS and attendance at the HSS conference is not required.
For those of you who have not been to a THATCamp before, you’ll find this a new experience. It is called an “unconference” because the sessions are suggested by the participants themselves and are only finalized during the first meeting of the morning. Campers bring with them ideas and knowledge that they want to share as well as questions and projects that they are looking for help on. During the breakout sessions, campers talk about their projects and share techniques and ideas with each other. To learn more please see the THATCamp site http://thatcamp.org/about/.

We hope to see you in the Windy City this fall.
