Here are some precautions that we will utilize at the annual meeting. Currently, these precautions mirror those in place for all New Orleans indoor activities. We will continue to update the community as the situation evolves.
Vaccinations: Participating attendees will need to provide proof of vaccination. For individuals who are not vaccinated, proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arriving at the meeting will be required.
Masks: HSS/SHOT will institute a mask mandate at the meeting for all attendees, staff, and hotel staff at all indoor events.
Note that if COVID-19 makes it impossible for us to meet in person we will shift to a completely online meeting.
These sites can provide some additional information specific to New Orleans:
The History of Science Society is committed to hosting meetings that minimize barriers to participation by all attendees. To this end, Jaipreet Virdi (University of Delaware) has created a set of recommendations for making meetings more inclusive.
These recommendations, though not comprehensive, do provide concrete suggestions as well as an opportunity for further discussion in our community.
The History of Science Society is offering a limited number of grants of up to two hundred dollars to assist delegates who require additional dependent care during the meeting. Applications may submitted at this page.
The History of Science Society is accepting donations to help support the Dependent Care Grants. Donations can be made as part of meeting registration, or at this link. The HSS thanks all of those who have already given generously to support the Dependent Care Grants.
Publishers and other organizers who are interested in sponsorships, displaying books, etc. should contact Kerry Kerr at email@example.com.
