  • Unlike in the past, you will have the option to indicate the time period(s), geographic region(s), and subject(s) of your paper. You will also have the option to list a handful of keywords.
  • Please be sure to limit your abstract to 250 words or less.

Organized Sessions

Unlike in the past, you will not need to log into the system to make a submission. Go to http://openconf.org/hss2017 and click on the link for Organized Sessions. Click on the “Make Submission” link.

You will need to provide information in the webform for the following people: the organizer, the chair, the commentator (if your session includes one), and the primary author for each paper. You will also need to provide a session abstract (250 word maximum).

Immediately after the section for the session abstract is a spot for you to upload a document that includes the rest of the session information. Specifically, please be sure to include the following information:

  • The session abstract (again).
  • The papers in your session, in the planned order of presentation.
  • For each paper, give the name(s) of the author(s), the title of the paper, and an abstract (250 words maximum).
  • Upload a single document in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt, or .pdf.

Please bear in mind the following:

  • Demographic information is optional, but will help with our efforts to increase diversity at HSS meetings.
  • Please only list primary authors in the webform. Co-authors can be listed in the uploaded document.
  • For each primary author, you will need to indicate whether the author has presented in the last two years, and whether he/she has presented on a Thursday and/or Sunday in the last five years.
  • Unlike in the past, you will have the option to indicate the time period(s), geographic region(s), and subject(s) of your session as well as some keywords for your session as a whole. Authors will be able to add information on their own papers after acceptances have been sent.
  • Please make a note of your submission ID and password. You can make any updates yourself until the proposal deadline by returning to the Organized Session page at http://openconf.org/hss2017 and choosing “Edit Submission.”
  • The deadline for session proposals is 11:59 EDT, 3 April 2017.
