The Faculty of Arts at the University of Bonn invites applications for a W3-Professorship in Dependency Studies for our Research Area E “Gender (and Intersectionality)” which addresses asymmetrical dependencies specifically at the intersection of gender, status, class, ethnicity, religion, and age.
The professorship is to be filled as soon as possible.

We are looking for applicants whose research is focused on forms of durable, asymmetrical individual, social and spatial dependency in pre-modern societies. By this we mean dependencies which are primarily connected to labour (slavery, serfdom, debt bondage, etc.) or linked to wider social dynamics (e.g. tribute, punishment, religion, etc.).
Preference will be given to applicants with research experience in the field of gender studies and intersectionality.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the development of the Cluster of Excellence and its study programs.
Applicants should have a university degree (Master, Magister or Staatsexamen) and Ph.D. as well as a Habilitation or equivalent publications in a subject relevant to the field of durable asymmetrical dependencies.
The successful applicant will be expected to have experience in being a member of interdisciplinary research teams and in working internationally. Teaching experience and the acquisition of third-party research funding is expected.
