This position is located in the Division of Work & Industry within the National Museum of American History (NMAH).
The employee is responsible for carrying out research, publishing, developing and managing collections, developing exhibitions and providing public service by responding to inquiries about areas of expertise within the History of Technology. The incumbent should have a research focus and expertise on the history of engineering and/or energy production.
- Researches the history of technology in the United States in any time period from the American colonial era to present.
- Operates independently to collect and manage large and diverse collections that provide the basis for interpreting the History of Technology in the U.S.
- Plans and develops exhibition concepts for showcase and similar exhibitions or as part of a larger exhibition team.
- Develops and maintains scholarly contacts, gives invited lectures, presents papers at professional meetings, and develops and participates in public and other educational programs.
