The History of Science and Technology (HOST) Program at the University of King’s College invites applications for a one-year, Limited Term Appointment in History and Philosophy of Science and/or Science and Technology Studies commencing 1 July 2021.

The appointment will be at the rank of (visiting) Assistant Professor full time appointment, with the possibility of renewal for one more year, subject to program need and budgetary approval. The successful candidate will teach in an interdisciplinary, combined honours program offered jointly by the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University. Our program is devoted to the history, philosophy, sociology and cultural place of science and technology. Preference will be given to those whose teaching interests focus on the history and philosophy of modern science and technology, which can include engineering, medicine, life sciences, physics, ecology, etc. The successful candidate will teach a number of the classes already offered by the program, including “Science and Culture” (crosslisted with the Contemporary Studies Program) and may include “Origins of Modern Medicine”, “Introduction to the History Science,”, “Science and the Media”, “Science Fiction in Film”, “History of Biology”, “Biopolitics”, etc. (see link below) as well as construct one or two new classes in the history, philosophy and social studies of modern science.

The HOST Program is especially interested in candidates who could help enhance its ongoing curricular diversity initiatives.
