This position is a tenure-track faculty position in STEM Education at Truman State University to teach a Management of Instruction course to Master’s of Arts in Education (MAE) students in science and mathematics, supervise internships and field experiences for students in both areas, advise pre-MAE students, work with other campus offices to recruit MAE students to science and mathematics, and teach other courses in science and mathematics as needed or as qualified. The person in this position will also serve as a liaison between the STEM Departments and Department of Education at Truman, especially with respect to Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) policies and their implications for MAE programs in science and mathematics.
A Ph.D. in a STEM discipline or closely related field is required for the position. Applicants will be evaluated on academic qualifications; evidence of sustained work and interest in STEM Education; evidence of and/or demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness across a variety of courses (e.g., introductory STEM courses as well as graduate-level courses); effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills; commitment to the liberal arts and sciences as a teacher-scholar, with graduate student development and accomplishment as the highest priority; state certification at secondary levels (or eligibility for such certification) in a STEM discipline at Truman; familiarity with the DESE policy environment; and relevant experiences and preparation, including (but not limited to) prior secondary teaching experience, collaboration, consulting, and/or non-academic positions.
