This Senior Level (SL) position is a Tier 1 within the Department of the Army.  Salary for Tier 1 positions within the Army are normally between $121,956 to $168,700.  Actual salary may vary depending on the scope and complexity of the qualifications and current compensation of the selectee.  SL positions are in the competitive service.

Serves as the Chief Historian to the Chief of Military History on professional, technical, and administrative matters pertaining to the Army’s historical program.  Responsible for the accomplishment of the technical and professional aspects of the mission of the Center of Military History including general editorship of the Army’s official historical publication program, and official and unofficial liaison with the other Army, Federal, and foreign official history offices, scholars in the academic community, and private organizations and individuals.

Qualifications Required:

To qualify, candidates must have a Degree in history; OR related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, plus appropriate experience or additional education.  Additional informaiton on this requirement may be obtained at:
