The Department of Medical History and Bioethics in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of American public health; period of specialization open. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the start of the appointment and demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly research. The selected candidate will actively engage in the intellectual life of our faculty with diverse temporal, geographical, methodological, and disciplinary interests. A commitment to medical education, as well as undergraduate and graduate education, is essential. The successful candidate will engage in significant ongoing research and publication, and will offer courses at all levels, including introductory courses in the history of American public health, as well as other more specialized courses in the candidate’s field of interest. The successful candidate will also perform department, university, and professional service as appropriate for faculty rank. The appointment is expected to begin in July 2021. The deadline for all materials, including letters of recommendation, is midnight (CT), Friday, October 15, 2021.
