The School of Humanities at Rice University in Houston, Texas seeks applicants for an open-rank, tenured or tenure-track position as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Ethical and Social Dimensions of Data Science.
PhD required at time of appointment.
The committee welcomes applications from scholars focusing in data, ethics, and society; critical code studies; software studies; digital humanities; science and technology studies; data ethnography; data law and policy studies, and other interpretive approaches, including race, gender and social justice in relation to data cultures.
The successful candidate will be prepared to teach a core Data, Ethics, and Society course in the new university-wide, interdisciplinary Data Science minor, as well as graduate and undergraduate courses in the home department. The usual Humanities teaching load is 2:2. Primary appointment will be in a department in the School of Humanities.
