The Faculty of Arts at the University of Adelaide welcomes applications for a higher degree (PhD) scholarships in conjunction with a research project entitled “Organisms and Us.” This project explores the changing roles and understandings of non-human organisms in 20th and early 21st century science using both historical and philosophical perspectives. The PhD project will involve integrated history and philosophy of biology, with the specific topic to be negotiated. Applicants should note that the awarding of a higher degree scholarship is dependent on external funding of this project, which at the date of this announcement is yet to be confirmed. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia, or citizens of New Zealand, by the closing date of 31 October 2015. Stipend: AU$25,849 per annum (2015 rate) tax free for up to 3 years (indexed annually). It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.
