The PSA Recent Ph.D. Award is given for the best single-authored article published in Philosophy of Science written by someone who received a Ph.D. within the last five years. The awards come with a prize of $250 and will be presented at the Twenty Fifth Biennial Meeting of the Philosophy of Science Association in Atlanta, Georgia.
2014 Recent PhD Award
To be eligible for the 2014 Recent PhD Award, the article must have a publication date in Philosophy of Science during the year 2014, and the author must supply evidence that their Ph.D. Degree was awarded after December 31, 2009 and on or before December 31, 2014.
2015 Recent PhD Award
To be eligible for the 2015 Recent PhD Award, the article must have a publication date in Philosophy of Science during the year 2015, and the author must supply evidence that their Ph.D. Degree was awarded after December 31, 2010 and on or before December 31, 2015.
Please send an email indicating the article you wish to have considered for these awards to the chair of the PSA Lectures and Awards Committee, Laura Ruetsche at mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org, by May 1, 2016. Include relevant eligibility documentation with your email. Co-authored papers are not eligible. The competition is limited to members of the Philosophy of Science Association. You are welcome and encouraged to nominate articles written by yourself.
The decision for this award is made by the PSA Lectures and Awards Committee, which consists of at least 3 members of the Governing Board and up to 3 senior members of the Association. The committee is constituted via invitation by the Association’s President.
