The PSA Early-Career Scholar Essay Award is awarded annually to the best single-authored essay published in Philosophy of Science during the award year by someone who is either a graduate student at the time of publication or received a Ph.D. within the past five years. The awards come with a prize of $250 and will be presented at the Twenty Sixth Biennial Meeting of the Philosophy of Science Association in Seattle, Washington.

To be eligible for the 2016 Early-Career Scholar Essay Award, the article must have a publication date in Philosophy of Science during the year 2016, and the author must supply evidence either that they were a graduate student at the time the paper was published or that their Ph.D. Degree was awarded after December 31, 2011 and on or before December 31, 2016. To be eligible for the 2017 Early-Career Scholar Essay Award, the article must have a publication date in Philosophy of Science during the year 2017, and the author must supply evidence either that they were a graduate student at the time the paper was published or that their Ph.D. Degree was awarded after December 31, 2012 and on or before December 31, 2017. Please send an email indicating the article you wish to have considered for the award to the chair of the PSA Lectures and Awards Committee, Edouard Machery, at machery@pitt.edu, by April 7, 2018. Include relevant eligibility documentation with your email. Co-authored papers are not eligible. The competition is limited to members of the Philosophy of Science Association. The decisions for these awards is made by the PSA Lectures and Awards Committee, which consists of at least at least 1 members of the Governing Board and up to 5 senior members of the Association.
