The Faculty of Arts at the University of Adelaide welcomes applications for a higher degree (PhD) divisional scholarship in conjunction with an ARC Discovery Project under the supervision of Professor Rachel A. Ankeny entitled “Organisms and Us: How Living Things Help Us To Understand Our World.” The PhD project will focus broadly on historical uses of various experimental organisms, but a more specific topic can be negotiated. Some funds will be available from within the grant for the successful candidate to do field and archival work, and to attend and present at domestic and international conferences.

Eligibility: applicants will have a minimum of Honours 2A result or equivalent in History or equivalent discipline. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia, or citizens of New Zealand, by the time of application. Stipend: $25,849 per annum (2015 rate) tax free for up to 3 years (indexed annually). It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis; the successful candidate will need to commence by 30 June 2016.
