GSA’s History and Philosophy of Geology Division is soliciting proposals for a student research award. Up to US$4,000 is available if justified with a supporting budget.
This award, established in 2017, is made possible by the Michele Aldrich History and Philosophy of Geology Student Research Award Fund, managed by the GSA Foundation. The purpose of the fund is to support research grants through the History and Philosophy of Geology Division for students who conduct historical research within the geosciences. Graduates within five years of their Ph.D. completion (early career scholars) are also eligible.
Steps to Success • Compose responses using the GSA Graduate Student Research Grant worksheet. Assemble all materials necessary in advance of submission. • Current students: Submit the responses online by 5 p.m. MST on 1 February 2018 at www.geosociety.org/grants. • Early career scholars: Submit the worksheet, your CV, and contact information for three scholars who can serve as your references to the Division secretary, Kathy Lohff, at firstname.lastname@example.org, by 5 p.m. MST on 1 February 2018.
Recipients of the Michele Aldrich History and Philosophy of Geology Student Research Award will be included in the annual GSA and/or GSA Foundation research award ceremonies, along with other student research award recipients.
