Objects of Understanding: Historical Perspectives on Material Artifacts and Practices in Science Education – postponed

June 29-July 3, 2020, Europa-Universität Flensburg (Germany)

Dear colleagues, to most of you this message certainly does not come as a surprize (or maybe there is a surprize that this message hasn’t been sent earlier): It is with great regret that we have to postpone (not cancel) the conference “Objects of Understanding”. Based on the current situation in Germany and elsewhere in the world, and taking into consideration the prospective developments in the coming months, it does not seem to be reasonable or realistic to host such a conference in June/July in Germany. We hope that you understand our decision, we are really sorry for any inconvenience that may be caused by it. It is certainly too early to make any future plans, but it is our intention to host this conference in 2021 in Flensburg. We will get back to you in September this year, at this time of the year it should be possible for us to provide information about the new schedule. Of course, if you would like to present the paper you had submitted for this conference, there will be no further evaluation process and you will be in the new program. However, we plan to publish a new call for papers at this point, and to contact you about your intention to participate. We would certainly be very happy if we could welcome you next year in Flensburg. If you have any questions at this point, please feel free to contact us – it might take a few days to respond though, things are really complex in Flensburg at the moment (we started teaching last Monday, and quit on Thursday, thus being forced to make new arrangements with the students). All the best, and take good care! Roland and Peter
