April 11-13, 2014, Illinois State University
Call for papers
HPM Americas is pleased to announce a meeting Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, April 11 to 13, 2014, at Illinois State University (ISU), in Normal, Illinois.
We seek a variety of talks on relations between the history and pedagogy of mathematics. Talks directly relevant to the use of the history of mathematics in mathematics classrooms are especially welcome, as are presentations relating history to pedagogy. Talks will be about 30 minutes long.
The twin cities of Normal and Bloomington are served by American and Delta Airlines, and are well stocked with hotels. One can also take a bus or train from either of the Chicago airports to the Uptown Station in Normal. Illinois State University is the oldest public university in Illinois, founded in 1857. We look forward to examining an excellent collection of old and rare mathematics and mathematics education books at ISU. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is about an hour’s drive away.
Abstracts of proposed talks need to be received by March 14, 2014. To submit an abstract you may visit our website at www.hpm-americas.org
or send it to Dave Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also register for the meeting on the website. Registrations received by March 21, 2014 will be $60.00 ($50 for full-time graduate students and K-12 teachers). Late and on-site registration will be $5 higher.
If you do not wish to use the website for registration, please fill out the attached registration form, with check made out to HPM-Americas Section and mail to:
